Teen birth rates in the U.S. have dropped to a historic low According to records from 2013 to 2014, births to teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19 fell to a low of 24 births per 1,000 women. The study said that in recent years, more teens have access to birth control and implants that prevent pregnancy. The report also saw that mothers over 30 accounted for 30 percent of the 2014 births. The infant mortality rate dropped significantly, with only six infant deaths per 1,000 births. The study showed another dip in preterm births for 2014, but researchers warn that it has increased since then. Chief Medical Officer at the March of Dimes, Dr. Paul Jarris
