Not just economically to keep its exports afloat but from defense perspective as well to continue to have co-operation from muslim countries in combatting terrorism. Then, there is the social stigma that USA now has intolerance to a population due to their faith with concerns for human rights violations of its minorities. Mosques being burnt down is not the kind of USA Americans want it to be. Muslim Americans' persecution is next in line. Someone wants to make USA another Myanmar & the last thing Trump needs is global sanctions imposed on USA for human rights' violations.
